Preparing for a first flight
- Read the story a few times before the trip so each step feels familiar.
- Let your child pack a small bag with a favourite toy and a snack.
- Name feelings out loud: nervous and excited can happen together.
- Practise “security” at home: shoes off, bag on the table, walk through.
Preparing for a first hike
- Choose a short, easy trail with something fun to reach at the end.
- Make a packing checklist together and let them carry one item.
- Stop often to touch, smell and listen; the pace is part of the fun.
- Celebrate at the top with a little picnic, just like Daya.
